Name of Skill/Setting: Bathroom

Purpose of the Lesson/Why it’s Important

  1. To teach students expected procedures when using restrooms.

Teaching Examples

  1. You are walking to the bathroom and you see your friend coming down the hall.  You want to talk to your friend so you wait for your friend and enter the bathroom.  What should you do?  The right thing to do is flush the toilet, then wash and dry your hands.
  2. Two children are yelling and playing in the water when you enter the restroom.  What should you do?  You should not enter the restroom and report the problem to the teacher.

Kid Activities/Role Plays

  1. Respect others privacy.
  2. Clean up after yourself.
  3. Flush the toilet.
  4. Wash hands with soap.
  5. Use indoor voices.
  6. Return to room promptly.
  7. Return to learning.
  8. Respect others privacy.
  9. Keep feet on floor.
  10. Keep water in sink/toilet.

Follow Up/Reinforcement Activities

  1. Teacher/Staff give positive praise.
  2. Ask students to report others who are following the rules.
  3. Staff increases rewards (ROCKS).
  4. Give reminders before behaviors are expected.
